Brussels is a truly lovely city with the most delicious Belgium chocolates and Belgium beer, with stunning architecture and a lot of history. After Brussels became independent in 1830 has been known as the Belgium Capital. The three regions it was divided into became three regions mainly because they had different languages. The Southern region is Wallonia, where they speak French; the Northern region is Flanders, where they speak Dutch. And the centre is Brussels where they are Bilingual.
Brussels’s monetary unit is Euros located in Western Europe and their borders are the North Sea, France, Germany and the Netherlands. Amazingly enough will you find 647 pharmacies, 874 hairdressers and 249 butchers, quite a large amount for such a small city. One of the world’s most international cities is Brussels with foreigners making up twenty-seven present of the population, excluding foreigners who took up Belgium citizenship.
Belgium has streets, buildings and monuments that date back to the 11th century. King used to make their homes in Brussels as well as great activity for enterprise and trade from tapestries to porcelain. In the modern cityscape shows clearly the original city wall’s outline and history was preserved as far as possible.
Some places in Brussels which cannot be missed are the Grand Place, Coudenberg, The Royal Palace, Town Hall, Manneken Pis, Royal Saint Hubert Gallery, Cathedrals of Saints Gudula and Michael, The Atomium and Place du Grand Sablon. Big international names such as Christian Dior, Gianni Versace, Giorgio Armani, Hermes, Vuitton and Chanel can all be found in the fashion industry at the Avenue Louise.
